Arbor House

We believe that our residents should be treated as individuals, be shown respect and accorded dignity, be given companionship and independence.

Arbor House is a residential home for the elderly situated at 48 Main St, Greytown, Wairarapa.

Arbor House is run by a Community Charitable Trust, incorporated under the Community Trust Act 1957.

The home is comprised of 20 single bedrooms. A large dining room and spacious lounge opening on to a veranda, another small lounge in the south wing, telephone room, five ablution areas and a kitchen and laundry.

Full 24 hour care is given by staff qualified in the care of the elderly.

Government subsidy is available for those requiring it, and residents are made aware at the time of application that a scale fee exists for those residents who become heavily dependent after entering the home.

Alternative and day care facilities are also available either at Arbor House or at private homes.

Arbor House also offers a "meals on wheels" service within the Greytown borough.

Outside community involvement is encouraged, and the board, Nurse Manager and Staff are dedicated in their desire to give quality of life to the residents in a loving and caring environment, while at the same time offering an atmosphere of a happy and secure feeling of home.

Residents are encouraged to furnish their own rooms with their personal possessions and memorabilia so as to create a secure and familiar atmosphere.

Each room is fitted with a heater and T.V. jackpoint so a personal television may be operated. Also in the home, there are three T.V. sets available for everyone's use.
